Employer Responsibilities:
If you find a job in Dubai and sign a job offer, your employer will typically handle the work permit and visa application process on your behalf. Companies must have the following documents to sponsor employee visas:
- Valid Business License
- Immigration/Establishment Card
- Company Labor Card
- E-Signature Card
- Immigration Online Account (Optional)
- Authorized signatory’s Original Emirates ID, Visa, and passport Copy
- Company’s Ejari and Dewa Bill copy
Requirements for Applicants:
New Employment Visa:
- Passport copy with at least 8 months validity (including 2 blank pages)
- Current visa copy (canceled, tourist, etc.)
- Passport photos (white background, no hat/glasses)
- Education certificate attested by the home country and UAE Embassy (if required for your profession)
- Emirates ID copy (front and back, if available)
Employment Visa Renewal:
- Original passport with at least 8 months validity (including 2 blank pages)
- 2 Passport photos (white background, no hat/glasses)
- Labor Card copy
- Labor Contract copy
- Valid health insurance
- Education certificate attested by the home country and UAE Embassy (if required for your profession)
- Original Emirates ID
Employment Visa Cancellation:
- Clear passport copy
- Clear residence visa copy
Skilled Professional Classification:
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE) categorizes professions for visa applications. As of June 1, 2022, new employees and renewal professions have skill levels 1–9.

Skilled Employees (Skill Levels 1-5):
Attestation from the UAE Embassy in your home country and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) is now required for skill levels 1–5. These categories include:
- Directorship and Managerial Positions
- Specialists (Engineers, Educators, Architects, Chemist, Financial Analyst, etc.)
- Technicians and Professional Assistants (Construction Safety officer, Electric Engineer Technician, Architecture Draftsperson, Water Treatment Plant Operator, etc)
- Service and Sales Workers (Cooks, Waiters, Barbers, Cleaning Supervisor, Housekeeping Supervisor, etc.)
- Data and Desk Support Staff (Secretaries, Receptionists, Archive clerks, Customer service clerks, etc.)
Required Education Certificates by Skill Level:
- Skill Levels 1 & 2: Attested University Degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD)
- Skill Levels 3 & 4: Attested Diploma Certificate
- Skill Level 5: Attested High School Diploma (or equivalent to 12th)
Low-Skilled Employees (Skill Levels 6-9):
These professions do not require attested education certificates. Examples include:
- Workers in Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries
- Craftsmen and Handicraft Workers
- Helpers and Food Service Workers
